Used car dealer Julian Buesink who fielded cars for championship leader
Bill Rexford and Lloyd Moore sent his drivers to Winchester while all
other favorites stayed at Martinsville. Both races paid 200 points to
the winner. Fireball Roberts finished 6th and took the championship lead
for couple of hours until Rexford reclaimed it with 3rd place in
Winchester. Curtis Turner's blown engine meant that his slim
championship hopes were mathematically over.
