Fellow Hudson driver Herb Thomas would go on to win the championship. 3. DieselDan posted: 02.19.2009 - 9:00 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) 13 car makes in this race. 4. Of those, only Buick, Chrysler, Ford, Lincoln and Mercury are still produced/going to be produced 5. ii posted: 11.08.2010 - 7:46 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Len Fanelli's only start 6. ii posted: 11.08.2010 - 7:47 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) And only start for the #144X in 1951 7. Bill Holland broke a camshaft, and Gober Sosebee blew his engine. They also list Ray Duhigg as having been in this race, driving a #10 1950 Plymouth. He went out due to a lost wheel. They're not sure where he finished, though. 8. startandparkfan posted: 07.23.2012 - 10:02 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Bill Blair in the 41.5! 9. Snow would make only one more start later in the 1951 season, then not make another appearance till 1969, as one of the "substitute" drivers in the controversial Talladega race. 13. Frankie Schneider comes home second followed by Tim Flock, Roscoe Thompson and Ewell Weddle. 14. Bill Ennis posted: 02.04.2017 - 7:39 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Number 41.5 was actually 41 1/2 on the car. It was a 49 Olds driven by Curtis Turner in 49. I think it was owned by Hubert Westmoreland. 2B was the number that the great Jack Smith used on his modifieds, in fact he won the Daytona modified race in 1952 with that number. The other "weird" numbers indicate that they may be the second car with that number so an "A or X" or a "1" was added. Example 144X. 15. When he stopped for gas his so called pit crew were celebrating and were to drunk to refuel him. He got some gas from his brother Fonty's crew. But was not able to catch Teague. That was the only time that Tim or anyone else drove that 1950 Lincoln. The Hudson was very stock and when the Hudson heard about it they invited Teague to Detroit. As a result MT was given the first factory sponsorship and a blue Hudson sedan. Teague came up with many ideas (such as twin H power, ie. dual carbs) for them resulting of total domination of stock car racing by Hudson for years. 16.
