No one has anything to say about this race? Well, I'll have to rectify
that, won't I?

Leonard Tippett's first start. His main claim to fame is that he loaned
his car to Herb Thomas for the season finale.

First start for Johnny Thompson, who as of 2010 was still among the living.

First start for Marshall Weatherly (any relation to Joe?).

First and only start for Jesse White.

2 races left before what would've been the 1951 Chase, and Lloyd Moore
clinches a top 10 spot, while Curtis Turner (with 3 wins) clinches at
least a Wild Card because only 1 of Bob Flock and Lou Figaro (1 win
each) can tie Turner in wins

Per Greg Fielden's Forty Years of Stock Car Racing, Fireball Roberts was
originally flagged the winner, but after a scoring check NASCAR declared
Tim Flock the winner. Ed Saverance, Fireball's car owner, was so upset
he refused to take the second place $700 money.

The crew likely used their last set. That would happen every once in a
while for cash strapped teams back in the first twenty-five years or so
of the sport. Their tires went flat and had none to replace them with.

@6 - it's quite likely they only had one set to start with. Back then a
lot of teams didn't take extra tires to a dirt track event.

On an aside, I always get a chuckle at this site showing Herb Thomas's
sponsor as "Fabulous". The sponsor was Hudson, their slogan was
"Fabulous Hudson Hornet".
