His main claim to fame is that he loaned his car to Herb Thomas for the season finale. First start for Johnny Thompson, who as of 2010 was still among the living. First start for Marshall Weatherly (any relation to Joe?). First and only start for Jesse White. 2. Ed Saverance, Fireball's car owner, was so upset he refused to take the second place $700 money. 4. @Statscrash posted: 06.28.2018 - 9:08 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 2 Cautions for 25 laps???? 5. That would happen every once in a while for cash strapped teams back in the first twenty-five years or so of the sport. Their tires went flat and had none to replace them with. 7. possum posted: 03.06.2019 - 7:43 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @6 - it's quite likely they only had one set to start with. Back then a lot of teams didn't take extra tires to a dirt track event. On an aside, I always get a chuckle at this site showing Herb Thomas's sponsor as "Fabulous". The sponsor was Hudson, their slogan was "Fabulous Hudson Hornet". 8. MSportRev posted: 08.30.2020 - 9:48 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Bill Snowden completed 199 laps and was running.
