Hava-Nagila, Hava-Nagila, Hava-Nagila! :) 3. RaceFanX posted: 11.15.2009 - 8:44 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Danny Weinberg's lone Cup win. Weinberg is notable because he is only officially credited with leading one lap in his entire career, the last lap here, but has a victory. He may have led more but with incomplete records we'll never know. First Cup race at Marchbanks Speedway, the next Cup race here was in 1960 4. The results for this race need to be listed as incomplete here because there were 31(!!!) cars in this, quite a few more than listed here. Where Herb Thomas finished is unknown, but he crashed (flipped, in fact) on the 138th lap. In addition, Weinberg won $1,700 for his win. Attendance: 7,800 Marvin Panch drove a '51 Ford in this. 9. nascarman posted: 07.24.2015 - 8:06 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Greg Fielden's "40 Years of Stock Car Racing" states that there were 34 cars. It lists positions 25-34 (all earning 25 dollars): Pos. # Driver - Team / Car 25. 39 Danny Letner Bert Letner '51 Oldsmobile 26. 6 Bill Ledbetter - Ledbetter '50 Ford 27. 35 Fuzzy Anderson - Bert Letner '51 Oldsmobile 28. 92 Herb Thomas - Teaguemobile '51 Hudson 29. 31 Lloyd Porter - Stan Noble '51 Henry J 30. 3 Allen Heath - Heath '50 Plymouth 31. John Soares - '50 Oldsmobile 32. 54 Andy Pierce - Upshaw's Garage '50 Oldsmobile 33. Unknown 34. Unknown Fielden's book also states that positions 11-34 are not necessary in the correct finishing order 10. Alex posted: 07.25.2015 - 5:26 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) ^That canNOT be the correct order. We know for a fact that Herb Thomas crashed on the 138th lap which would put him well above 28th. For all intents and purposes the finishing positions on 11th-34th should be left blank or labeled "Unk" 11. Alex posted: 07.25.2015 - 5:32 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) In fact, on the evidence nascarman and I have found, the positions beyond 11th on this, 1951-04, 1951-13, 1951-35, 1951-37, and 1951-40 should all be labeled as a blank finishing position or with "unk" in the finishing position. Nevermind the mountains of evidence suggesting we are missing races from the 1950s. 12. nascarman posted: 07.25.2015 - 8:14 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) We'll maybe an asterisk saying the finishing order from 11-34 may not be in the correct order. The points system was related to money won in the early years so NASCAR probably didn't bother to keep track of the finishing order from 11-34 considering they all got the same points. 13. Alex posted: 07.25.2015 - 8:17 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Well, I made the suggest I did because in scientific research it would be considered improper to designate numbered positions even if there's an asterisk. 14. nascarman posted: 07.25.2015 - 8:41 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) That's understandable. 15. Alex posted: 07.31.2015 - 8:11 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Well, webmaster apparently found those last two drivers, Hershel McGriff and Hal Cole. 16. Alex posted: 07.31.2015 - 8:18 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Since we have the lap leaders, too, we can also add that Herb Thomas crashed on lap 138. He could have been lapped at the time of his crash so if can't really be determined how many laps he actually completed 18. nascar_vd / racing-reference.info posted: 08.03.2015 - 1:05 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Note for visitors: we have found some informations missing and/or correction until now on the website (lap leaders, car numbers, owner, sponors and a lot of starting positions, missing drivers). Note: no time trial due to rain and poor track condition. Lineup based on point standing and entry blank. But there are still a lot of missing information. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
