Apparently, some idiot decided to drive across the track during the
race. He got hit by E.C. Ramsey, which likely caused the radiator damage
that took him out of the race.

After this race, NASCAR stripped Marshall Teague of all his points for
racing in a non-sanctioned race. Teague denied this, and ended up
quitting NASCAR after this incident and moved to the AAA stock car
series. This is why his NASCAR stats stop after this race.

This newspaper report says "The first five were in the last lap when
Baker crossed the finish line".

finished on the lead lap.
