What a title for a race!

Dick Rathmann won the pole and finished 11th in a Ford. This was the
only race in 1952 in which he drove a Ford.

The name is a take off on the Indianapolis 500, definitly a great name!
This is the first non-Darlington race to carry the tag 500, yet there
were only 200 laps equaling 100 miles. :)

Run the same day as the 1952 Indy 500, won by Troy Ruttman.

I was there, a great race. In those days you could wander around the
track, I was in the infield, had a fantastic view.

This was the first race of the season without a Studebaker

There was a #68 Plymouth in this race, presumably wrecked out.

George Hufford was in car #68. You can peep his car at 1:27 in this
video, he is driving a car fielded out of what I think is NJ (on the
fender).
