Based on the 1953 Record book these are the races that were run: 1952 Race Date Track Winner Car 1 6/7/1952 Jersey City Ted Chamberlain 2 6/11/1952 Starkey Speedway Lee Petty Plymouth 3 6/14/1952 Winston Salem Lee Petty Plymouth 4 7/5/1952 Belmar Jim Reed 5 7/18/1952 Lanham Speedway Lee Petty #42 Plymouth 6 7/31/1952 Toronto Lee Petty 7 8/3/1952 Wilmington Charles Dyer 8 8/14/1952 Sportsman Park Lee Petty 9 8/16/1952 Brewerton Speedway Lee Petty 10 8/28/1952 Heidleberg Raceway Lee Petty 11 8/30/1952 Westport Stadium Neil Cole 12 9/5/1952 Hickory Motor Speedway Dick Passwater 13 9/17/1952 Royal Stadium Jim Reed 14 9/19/1952 Clarian Dick Rathman Hudson 15 9/26/1952 Westboro Speedway Ray Duhigg Point Standings 1 Neil Cole 2 Lee Petty 3 Jim Reed 4 Jack Reynolds 5 Ronnie Kohler 6 Ted Chamberlain 7 Ray Duhigg 8 Charles Dyer 9 Ralph Ligouri 10 Bud Farrell 11 Jim Lewallen 12 Lloyd Moore 13 Bill Brown 14 Herb Thomas 15 Tony Bonadies 16 Bill Hammersly 17 Lucky Sawyer 18 Bobby Courtwright 19 Nelson Appleson 20 Sam DiRusso 3 of these races would have been between the 22nd and the 23rd Grand National Race. 6. Would you happen to have the results for 1951 as well? I also had wondered about the 1952 Dick Passwater win. He personally told a bit about that race some time ago. 7. Multiple sources say there were 11 races in the 1951 Short Track Late Model Division, I can find 10 definite races in the 1952 yearbook and 1 race at Bowman Gray listed as a Late Model Event that I don't see on any list of GN races, so I'm guessing that it was a short track race (B-G was after all a short track) They are: 1951 Race Date Track Winner Car 1 7/4/1951 Wall Stadium Jim Delaney 2 7/7/1951 Sportsman Park Lee Petty 3 7/11/1951 Ruppert Stadium Jerry Morese 4 7/13/1951 Lanham Speedway Tony Bonadies Nash 5 7/21/1951 Bowman-Gray Stadium Curtis Turner 51 Ford 6 8/26/1951 Dorney Park Johnny DuBois 7 8/28/1951 Westboro Speedway Charles Gattalia 8 9/8/1951 Bone Stadium Roscoe Hough 9 9/12/1951 Royal Stadium Jim Reed 10 10/13/1951 Westport Stadium Jim Reed #67 '47 Ford 11 10/21/1951 Heidleberg Raceway Jim Reed But I also found 2 other races from different sources that were supposed to be short track events: 9/1/1951 Brewerton Speedway Roscoe Hough 9/27/1951 Canfield Speedway Lloyd Moore Ford Julian Buesink Also here are the top 25 in points: 1 Roscoe Hough 2 Ronnie Kohler 3 Jim Reed 4 Charles Gastillia 5 Jim Delaney 6 John Dubois 7 Lee Petty 8 Frankie Schnieder 9 Paul Pettit 10 Ken Marriott 11 Jerry Morese 12 Tony Bonadies 13 Neil Cole 14 Herb Thomas 15 Bud Farrell 16 Fonty Flock 17 Tim Flock 18 Jimmy Florian 19 Joe Summers 20 Jack Reynolds 21 Lloyd Moore 22 Don Bailey 23 Dick Linder 24 Frank Mundy 25 Mike Klapak 8. It looks totally gone but maybe it is wishful thinking but I think I see a ghost of turn 2. 9. Thomas, after he turned turtle, took over the driving duties for Bub King. This would be the only Cup start for both Wensink and Howell, as well as for Marion Leech and Glen Larsen. DNQ: Louise Smith in an Oldsmobile Smith put up a qualifying lap, but she "gave way to her partner [J.O.] Stanton, when his car wouldn't function prior to the start of the race." ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
