First not Petty driver was Pap White, 1951 Darlington

Donald Thomas was relieved by Herb Thomas.
Tim Flock, plauged with heating problems during the last 10 laps.
Fonty Flock, plauged with tire trouble througout the race, was never in
contention for the win.
