Was he a relief driver or was this just a glitch in the record books. thank you 3. webmaster posted: 11.09.2009 - 11:05 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Apparently Turner did start the race: Fielden states that he "departed with engine problems after 132 laps". However, Turner's finishing position is not known though it must have been 11th, 12th, 13th or 14th. Because Turner's finishing position is unknown he does not appear in our database for this race and doesn't show up in the results aside from the fact that he led some laps. I'll see what I can do to straighten this out. 4. JJNOTLEHTO posted: 11.10.2009 - 8:49 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Webmaster thanks for getting back 5. If I were to take a guess as to the other competitor, I'd probably go with Elton Hildreth. (Of course, since it's highly unlikely that the first car went out on lap 119, there were probably three or four other cars in the field as well.) If someone's feeling really adventurous, they could try to work out how many points were given out in every race (like Chevy did with '49 and '50), and from the discrepencies, they could figure out who finished where in this race. But even I'm not crazy enough to try it. I don't really 'get' the pre-68 point system. 7. Chuck Housley finished 12th, Fonty Flock placed 14th, Dick Rathman(n) was 16th, Ed Massey finished 17th, and Jimmy Ayers placed 20th. I got this from ESPN.com, of all places. 9. ESPN.com says Fonty Flock's car number was 14 and Dick Rathmann's car number was 20. studebakerracing.com says C.H. Dingler's car was a Studebaker. Sadly I still have been unable to find the missing drivers in positions 13, 18, and 19. Hopefully these results have not been lost forever. 10. I believe this was the last Cup race in the database where we didn't know who finished where. Thanks for your hard work! 11. There are possibly several entire races missing never mind the ones with missing drivers. 12.
