This was the first race where Petty Enterprises fielded the famous #43,
driven to an 11th place finish by Bob Welborn.

There was a 20-lap preliminary race here, won by Ralph Moody. 19 cars
started and only 6 finished! I'm not sure if it was a qualifying race or
modified-sportsman event, though.
