Herb Thomas was originally penalized one lap for improper pit use. The
original finishing order was reported as 1. Baker 2. Rathmann 3. Flock
4. Thomas 5. Sosebee. After a series of protests, Baker was also
penalized one lap for pit violations. Rathmann and Flock were penalized
for receiving service on the track under caution. These penalties
resulted in the official finishing order as listed.
