This race was also the first race in the history of NASCAR's Pacific
Coast Late Model division, which is now known as the K&N Pro Series West.

Rathman's car owner for this race joins a rather exclusive club of
owners who won in their first and only start. Oddly enough, the other
owner to pull off this feat was Bob Phillippi, at this same track three
years earlier.

This is also the first time since '51 that a Pontiac has run a race.

One of 2 races on March 28, the other was in Savannah Georgia, won by Al
Keller

Vee Dent flipped in qualifying, denting his car heavily, so it's likely
he withdrew.

I believe Vee Dent's car number was 36, buuuutt this is just out of
speculation. All of Mr. Dent's other attempts were in a #36 Hudson.

I love that Hershel McGriff was in a race at this crazy old track that
last held a major race in 1954 and was replaced by a mall not much
later. And then the same McGriff was running in and finishing a race
against people like Hailie Deegan, Jesse Iwuji and Takuma Koga in 2018.

He raced against Paul Phipps, born in 1906, and Kody Vanderwal, born in
2001.

There are two listings for Vee Dent in the "withdrawals" section.
