Very curious, what formula was used for manufacturer's points in these
early years?

I've only been able to find the champions for each season, not the full
breakdown of points scored by each brand. To me, these are the most
interesting seasons for the manufacturer's championship, since the cars
were very close to showroom stock and the brands were more diverse than
later years.

Dick Rathman was originally declared the winner. But on May 1, 1954, it
was revealed that there was a scoring error, and Gober Soseebee was
handed the win.
