Dad and a few friends worked after hours (they had to make a living) and weekends to get the car ready for the Bay Meadows race. Dad and a friend then DROVE the racecar to San Mateo, but arrived too late to qualify. Dad started dead last and in 23 laps TOOK THE LEAD from Herschel McGriff. I talked to Herschel at the 2003 West Coast Stock Car Racing Hall of Fame Banquet/Induction, and he remembers. Dad (ERICK) was inducted in to the HoF in 2003. I have a color slide of the pass at Bay Meadows. It can be seen at thevintageracer.com thanks to my new friend Dave Zortman. Dad's career is also viewable there...click scrapbooks/photos. Thanks for the opportunity to post. Fred Erickson 2. But there are still a lot of missing information. 4.
