This was a combination event, sanctioned by both the NASCAR Grand
National (now Sprint Cup) series, and the NASCAR Pacific Coast Late
Model (Now Camping World West) series, meaning that Flock's one win
counted as two. NASCAR did this several times during the fifties to drum
up support for west coast racing.

Being a race in Arizona, only the Flock brothers, plus Speedy Thompson
had run previous race in 1955...For the other 26 drivers, it was their
first race of the 1955 season
