Pete DePaolo ran Ford's factory racing efforts up until this race, with
himself as the listed owner. When Ford pulled out official factory
support under the 1957 AMA guidelines, the team's assets were sold to
Holman Moody, who continued to build on that foundation. Ford continued
to provide backdoor, then eventually, open support once again as the
rivalry with Mopar heated up in the 1960's.
