@jackie Factory teams quit. NASCAR didn't want them anymore, because
NASCAR reckoned it was spoiling the image of the series.

Fireball Roberts: 190-200

Though another newspaper report said Baker led "148 laps" so not sure if
it's accurate.

Pretty unusual for this era with three cars on the lead lap and another
just a lap behind.

Auto Manufacturers pulled out of NASCAR beginning with this race due to
the Martinsville tragedy of 5/19/57 and a recent Modified race in
Clarion, PA, where two children, 8 & 12, were killed by a flying race
wheel.
