Several cars piled into the wreckage, including Possum Jones, Speedy Thompson, Gwyn Staley and Marvin Panch. Panch's Ford made a complete roll, landed on all-fours and, after a slight hesitation, Panch continued, much to the liking of the crowd. - Roy Tyner was the second accident when he lost control of his '56 Ford and plowed into the judges' stand. Tyner emerged uninjured but the right side of his car was completely caved in. - Exact number of caution is unknow but race report indicated at least 5. - Curtis Turner showed up without a car and persuaded Bob Welborn to let him drive his car. Just before the race started, Welborn told Turner: 'Just bring back the steering wheel'. 8. kup posted: 01.12.2018 - 9:27 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) TTSS*: Twin-Tandem Scoring System. Dick Rathman 1: '54. *TTSS* Every race can have 2 winners, awarded equal points except bonuses. Then equal points goes for every next pair of cars/drivers: 3+4, 5+6, etc. This TTSS adds to races not only feud, but also a co-operation. Every year/season can have 2 "gold" champions, then 2 "silver", 2 "bronze", etc. The basic idea is to compare current race/year system (aka "deficit") with TTSS (aka "plentiness"). No need to have 3 (triple) or more winners, as 2 is just oke to compare the root. 9. Some years back, I counted up how many starts each manufacturer had per season, but I didn't keep track of how many races they were in. I tried working that out on another project, but that petered out. I'm 95% certain that Ford will end up with the ultimate victory, even though we've had more Chevys total over the last 70 years. Chevy's slow start in the first six years should keep them at a permanent disadvantage. 11. I believe Ford will beat Chevy too since Chevy didn't run a full season till 1956. 12. This is so far the slowest race in the history of the Cup series that I can find. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
