I've heard that Richard was punted into the fence by none other than his
dad Lee! At least The King didn't punt Kyle into wall in his first race.

This was actually Richard's second career NASCAR start. He raced the
previous week in a NASCAR Convertible race at Columbia SC in a 1957
Oldsmobile that Lee gave him.

Lee was coming up to lap Richard, who wasn't getting out of the way fast
enough. So Lee got on the chrome horn and took his son out

The good old days, before Cup was a media circus that only races at
facilities that are worth hundreds of millions of $. It must have been
pretty cool to see the stars of NASCAR battle it out on a 1/3 mile oval
in the heart of Toronto. I guess I was born 35 years too late.
Interestingly the Toronto Indy Street Circuit also uses the Exhibition
Place grounds.

It's kinda funny how NASCAR is always consider a southern thing, yet
Richard Petty's first sprint cup race was in Canada!

Was the track around the football field the Argonauts played on, and the
start/finish line by the covered grandstand that was the left field
fence when the Blue jays played there?

14. I live in Canada now, and basically now it's a soccer stadium and a
fair grounds. No idea where the track was, but i imagine under all that
somewhere. haha

Why was the race named Jim Mideon 500" if the race was 100 lap or 33.3
miles?
