Prior to that race Rex Smith had a pole in each of five previous races
he entered. In Weaverville this streak ended.

Note: Fireball Roberts was relieved by Banjo Matthews in last half of
the race.

The race recap shows Rakestraw qualifying 39th but there were only 38 in
the race. No one is shown as qualifying 30th. Spots 31-39 are all one
higher than Greg Fielden's Forty Years of Stock Car Racing

Per Ultimate Racing History, five of the cars in this race, including
the ones driven by Fireball Roberts and Bob Welborn were convertibles.
