Richard's last race in #2, the #2 was the first number Richard really
had to himself instead of a variation of father Lee's #42

Richard wouldn't run a race with a single digit car number for 28 years!

The Championship 4 (using the 2016 format) would have been Lee Petty (in
either way), Buck Baker (points) Junior Johnson (win, 5th in points) and
Fireball Roberts (win, 7th)

In the previous 88 playoff dates, only Donald Thomas' 1952 win at
Lakewood Speedway put a driver in the next round that would not have
made it on points...Roberts' win at Martinsville, and Johnson's win at
North Wilkesboro made 2 in consecutive races
