Curtis Turner backs up his win at Hillsborough a week earlier by
prevailing again at Charlotte to make it two in a row. This would be the
last win for Turner in 1959, the last before his ban in 1961, and his
penultimate Cup win. It would be more than six years before Turner would
win again in this series.

Newspapers state Joe Weatherly entered the event, but failed to find a
ride and withdrew.
