Ex DePaolo built car stayed competitive for 3 years. It seems the smaller & lighter Fords and Chevys were initially better than their predecessors. Those little 283 & 312's ran pretty good. It's even more impressive to me when you consider the newer cars had bigger engines. '58 Chev @ 348, Merc @ 368, Olds @ 374, '59 Pontiac @ 389, & T-Bird @ 430. 3. Everyone was fine, but the fans did have to line up along the fence to watch the race. 6.
