Despite dominating the event, Emanuel Zerkavis lost the victory to Joe
Weatherly when Weatherly ordered the officials to inspect Zerkavis' fuel
tank after the race.

Zerkavis' tank was found to have a higher-than-normal fuel capacity,
although fuel mileage never came into play in his victory. When asked
later how Weatherly knew that Zerkavis' tank was illegal, he grinned and
said ... "Because I was running the same tank he was,".

As of right now, Emanuel Zervakis is the last NASCAR Cup winner to be
disqualified after the race for a rules violation. This may change in 2019.

It has changed, Ross Chastain has been striped of his Truck series win
but as I type this the team has appealed this ruling.

This is still the most recent *Cup* race where the winner was
disqualified ^
