This was the first Grand National race that I went to, It was stopped
for rain and completed the next week.
I was only able to see the first part
I had to work the next Saturday.
In the state of South Carolina you could not race on Sunday, Back Then

Johnny Allen blew a tire in Turn 1, went over the fence, and took out
the supports for a media grandstand, half of it collapsing. No one was
seriously injured.

Junie Donlavey fielded a Chevrolet in this race. This would be the last
time he would field something other than a Ford or Mercury, as he would
become a Ford Motor Company loyalist for the next 42 years.

This was a race for convertibles, even though that series was
discontinued after the 1959 season. Regular Grand National (Cup) points
were awarded.

#5, while your statement is mostly true, it wasnt his final time to use
a Chevrolet. In 1979, he would field a Chevrolet for Ricky Rudd after
running short on cars, at Richmond and Bristol.
