As a 15 year old kid I was in attendance that night. Seeing all the
stars of NASCAR was a big deal for my little home town track. Being a
Ford fan I was happy Ned Jarrett won.

I'm surprised that there was such a small field for a race in South
Carolina.

It is surprising because of the high concentration of racers in the
geographic vicinity, but it was a low paying race.

They did get some big names in that small field, though.
