I don't get it.

If Buck Fulp got a top 10 in the qualifier, naturally, he would have
qualified, right? Why didn't he run the 600?

@4 - I couldn't figure that out at first, either. But comment #15 over
on the main 1961 World 600 page explained that these particular
qualifying races only set the front row. The rest of the starting lineup
was apparently set from time trials on a later date.
