It's the first race, and best career finish, for ace engine builder
Maurice Petty. He never got one as a driver but Maurice would play a
major role turning the wrenches in many victories for his brother and
others...

On this day x59 years ago, Jim Paschal wins his 7th career race & 1st of
x2 on the '61 season. This was Paschal's 5th race of the season, & in
terms of title implications, '61 champion Ned Jarrett finished 5th,
while '61 runner-up Rex White finished 10th.
