It was a 250 lap race and Weatherly and Johnson alone add up to 271 laps led. Great info however! Love seeing details on these older races! 5. In 1959 and 1960, this race was 200 laps. In 1962, it was extended to 300 laps but was called the Capital City 300. 6. [Track or city name] + [# of laps or miles] was a generic way of giving a race a name in old newspaper accounts; they had to call it *something*. If this must be assigned a name at all on here, "Richmond 250" would correctly fit the pattern. 8.
