Instead, it opens up a page of Australian Jim Stewart, V8 Supercars driver. Can you please fix that? 4. When you click on Crew Chiefs for this race it says that Jim Stewart's Crew Chief was Bud Allman. On that same date there was a race in Richmond, VA and Bud Allman was the Crew Chief for Ned Jarrett. I guess he wasn't Jim Stewart's Crew Chief. 5. A posted: 12.21.2020 - 6:52 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) This race was the same day as a Cup race in Richmond. Not surprisingly, there were a lot more familiar names in Richmond. Race winner Eddie Gray raced one time each at Daytona and Darlington in his only career appearances outside the west coast. Fourth place finisher Don Noel raced at Daytona once. Those were the only career appearances in traditional NASCAR country among the top five from this race. 6. Thanking you in advance... 7. Canadianfan posted: 01.11.2021 - 2:42 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) @6 I found a nice recap of the race from The Sacramento Bee on September. 11th, 1961. It only mentions that Amick won the pole and Carl Joyner went through the backstretch fence and flipped upside down during his qualifying attempt. Amick's time of a 45.42 was a new track record. It sounds like it was a very slow chaotic race with many caution flags and a very dusty track. 8. thog posted: 01.11.2021 - 7:41 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) @7 I have seen this paper before, correct me if I'm wrong but didn't it mention even though Joiner flipped, his time was good enough for 9th on the grid? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
