One of two races won by Pardue (uncle).

Southside Speedway still runs weekly races and probably hasn't changed
too much since those early days; it's a great place to go and enjoy a
night of racing.

It was Jimmy Pardue's first NASCAR victory.

Note: Jimmy Pardue , in a neat exhibition of driving, had threaded his
way to first place with a transmission that was shot except for one
gear, the high ! In practice run, Jimmy tore out the transmission. It
was replaced, and then Joe Weatherly tried the car. The new tansmission
went out again, all except the high gear. Pardue started the race 12th.
Weatherly then borrowed Fred Harb's '61 Ford and finished "only" fourth
with a transmission with all gear !
