Bobby Isaac's first Grand National start, discounting his appearances in
the '61 World 600 and '63 Daytona 500 qualifying races.

Junior Johnson dominated until his rear end problem, then Ned Jarrett
dominated until he had to pit, leaving the race in the hands of Richard
Petty. It was the second of 14 wins in that season, at the time 2nd all
time, and his 15th career win.

DNQ:
C.L Kilpatrick of Alexandria, VA in a '62 Chevrolet
Tommy Irwin in a '63 Ford

Irwin flipped three times in practice and suffered injuries to the left
eye, shoulder and hand.

CAUTION FLAGS:
Shown four times for a total of 21 laps.
On lap three, Roy Mayne spun out.
On lap 18, David Pearson hit the turn 4 embankment, also involving Bruce
Brantley.
On lap 143, Clements, Waits and Petty wrecked. Clements suffered a back
injury.
On lap 183, the yellow came out so that the ambulance carrying Clements
who also collapsed following his crash.

Scratch the Kilpatrick DNQ, Roy Mayne almost certainly drove his car in
the race.

Johnny Clements was driving a Chevrolet in the race instead of a Ford.
This was his first and last Grand National start.

Unless another race's lap's led count get's discovered, this is
currently the fewest laps led by a victory for Richard Petty.
