This was J.D. McDuffie's NASCAR debut. I remember reading somewhere that
he wanted to run the #70, but that was taken, so instead he drove with a
big "X" on his door.

This was Cale Yarborough's 1st race in Herman ("The Turtle") Beam's #19
Ford. An unlikly pairing. Cale was one of the greatest "Chargers" ever
and Herman one of the slowest "Strokers" in the history of NASCAR.

Chuck Huckabee's NASCAR Cup debut nets him his lone top-10 finish in
ninth place. He wouldn't finish higher than 12th in any of his other 11
Cup starts.
