Rex White then took over the race lead and was in position for his 29th and ultimately final Grand National victory, but was passed by Ned Jarrett with just 37 laps to go. White led 98 laps in this race, which was more than he had led in his other 24 starts in 1963 combined. Other than his final race one year later, this was the last time that White would lead in a Grand National race. This was Larry Manning's first race in his own car since his crash (and subsequent 8th place finish) at Dog Track Speedway 15 races earlier, driving a one-year old Chevrolet. Unfortunately, overheating issues knocked him out of the race just prior to the one-third mark of the race. 2. He'd won 15 races since then. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
