This event was originally scheduled for right after Thanksgiving but
weather delays meant that it did not run until at the send of December.

Car Owner for Nos. 42 and 43 was Lee Petty, Petty Engineering.

The last race that Joe Weatherly would finish, coming home 10th three
weeks before fatally crashing at Riverside.

This race was originally going to be called the "Turkey Day 200", but
due to the rain-out, the race was re-named the "Sunshine 200," which is
kind of ironic, especially considering that the race got rained out (not
once, but three times!)

The fact that Weatherly was still car hopping indicates to me that he
was gonna make another run for the point title. Who knows, if he hadn't
suffered fatal injuries in the next race, he might have been the first
driver to three-peat.
