The smallest starting field ever for a NASCAR Cup race. This also
happened six other times;

1953 - Hickory
1956 - Oklahoma City
1959 - Nashville
1961 - Richmond
1964 - Savannah (race 20)
1964 - Myrtle Beach

This was the last time that a record low setting 12 cars entered a
NASCAR Cup race.

didn't help that the race was run between two major events a week apart.
just wondering if this was a rain date.

Note: Bobby Isaac DNS due to mechanical failure during the pace laps
(Lost oil pressure). Same problem during the practice session.
