A couple of compettive Chevys showed up for this one. LeeRoy actually
led the show before having engine failure.

didn't jesse samples car end up on its roof after taking down the pure
oil sign? guess he drove like junior samples.

The Spartanburg Herald Journal on the Samples crash:
"Jesse Samples, driving a 1963 Chevrolet, brought the crowd of 24000 to
its feet three laps from the finish when his car hit some oil on the
track, went out of control, went out of control, overturned, bounced
into the air and hit an iron pole between the track and the pit area.
Samples crawled out the car laughing, but was taken to the hospital to
determine if he had any injuries."

At least he could laugh about it.

Junior Spencer and Jabe Thomas and Buddy Arrington and Billy DeCoster
switched cars in the lead up to the race.

Info for last caution: the origin of the #96 accident = #26 blew
engine/oil on track.

Jimmy Helms withdrew his '63 ford on the race for unknown reasons, he
originally qualified 33rd
