Spencer had this one in the bag until his motor soured with 20 laps to go. It finally blew four laps short of the finish. 5. rob posted: 07.14.2013 - 10:48 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) First of four career starts for Elmer Gilliam. The race got rained out on Saturday night, so we came back on Sunday for the race. 14. The track closed a year after this race. 15. Fuzzy posted: 11.24.2019 - 8:21 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) This is the only race win to date for the #06 in NASCAR Cup Series history. Dick Hutcherson started on the pole and destroyed the field for 80% of the race until he broke down. Then G.C. Spencer inherited the lead but blew a motor, handing the legendary Cale Yarborough his first NASCAR victory even though he would only lead the last 18 laps. 16.
