Very bad race. 5. WOW! posted: 01.22.2007 - 9:43 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I found a race on here from 1955 that Ned won by 22 laps. Was that race not counted or something? 6. This is the largest Mileage defference between first and second. 7. Anonymous posted: 03.28.2007 - 10:32 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) you do know that cale yarborough sailed over the wall 8. It was featured on ABC's Wide World of Sports opening for many years. 9. jackie posted: 06.09.2007 - 8:15 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) This race had a little of every thing. Buren Skeen was fatally injured on the 2nd lap after spinning and getting t-boned by Reb Wickersham. There were competitive Chevys Cale & Sam McQuagg tangled and Cale sailed over the railing out of the track then McQuagg collected LeeRoy's #3 Chevy who was running 3rd. Dierenger had it won then a axle bearing went out . Then Jarrett had a big lead over #86 Plym. ,Buddy driving in relief for Buck Baker. 10. Bill France let him back as a promotion, NASCAR really needed the hype in the 1965 season known for Dodge factory teams being completely absent 11. The difference between third and fourth place prize money would have really benefited Tom Hunter's small team. Someone has restored a version of the Mayne Chevy to run in vintage races on road courses. 24. rob posted: 05.13.2013 - 7:00 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I was surprised to find the qualifying results available for this race. Interesting that the entire field was set by time trials and there was no consolation race to determine the final few spots . I know there was such a race the next year because I attended it with my dad. Just wondering if this is the earliest race that has the complete qualifying rundown on your site. 25. Every competitive car had problems with the exception of Jarret, so the win was basically by default. The Baker Fury was pretty fast but suffered overheating, during which Buddy assumed command. It was the closest to a win by the Fury except for G G Spencer's 2nd at the next World 600. 26.
