Gurney remarked that it was the first time anyone had ever passed him airborne. Turner remained in the lead or in second place for the next 34 laps until he had to pit to fix the gas cap that had come off as a result of that little stunt. He wound up 4th, a couple of laps down, but with yet another memorable tale to tell. 7.
