Some details about this race from what I gathered from the Spartansburg
Herald-Journal.

1)During lap 74, leader John Sears came up with a broken spindle and was
forced in the pits for a lengthy stay. At the same time, second-place
driver Elmo Langley had a flat tire and pitted. That allowed Richard
Petty to take the lead.
2) According to the article this was the first time that James Hylton
had ever raced on a dirt track - probably only taking into consideration
NASCAR events?
3) David Pearson is the point leader after the race despite leaving
early with ignition trouble.
