DTroppens posted: 01.03.2012 - 3:20 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) From the Spartanburg Herald-Journal. 1) David Pearson was forced out after sliding into Wendell Scott's car in the first turn. 2) James Hylton spun out during qualifying and didn't even start in the race. "I just lost it. The A-frame broke when I slid out." 3) Richard Petty smashed into the wall, ending his race before it began. He was unable to fix his car in time for the race. 4) David Pearson was the only driver to qualify with a time under 26 seconds. 5) Elmo Langley was able to pull nearly even with Tiny Lund during a caution flag. Langley comment "I figured I had it won when I saw Tiny out of the race. I didn't have any trouble - except my eye goggles fogged over and the dust was blinding. But the car ran good. I guess the only trouble would be the shocks because of the track." 5.
