The incident began on lap 8 when Allison refused to let Curtis Turner pass. Turner was a legend and was use to getting his way. When Turner couldn't get by he wacked Allison from behind and spun him out. Bobby's car was dented but he still raced it and chased down Turner. Turner was leading and Allison attempted to pass him, when Turner wrecked Allison again. He ran Allison into the wall and this time was worse than the first as Allison had damage to his chevrolet. Allison was angry so when the yellow flag came out the pace car picked up Turner who was the leader. Allison, who was in the infield grass, went straight towards Turner. Turner realized what Allison was doing and only got some front end damage and kept on going. Allison and Turner battled for the next ten laps or so beating and banging the sides of their cars. NASCAR threw both drivers out of the race and their cars looked like they had been in a demolition derby. Police had to keep Allison and Turner, and their fans apart. A few days later at Darlington, Turner and Allison shook hands and became friends and they remained friends up until Turner died in 1970. However, their little battle at Bowman-Grey Stadium in 1966 is one for the ages. 2.
