This was my very 1st NASCAR race, I remember a big wreck as the cars
came down to take the green flag.

#9 - Cale was likely in Indy for 500 qualifying.

Exactly right. Noticed on the Indy rundown that both Cale and Lee Roy
made the show while Sam McQuagg and Bobby Johns were on the DNQ list.
