King Richard cut a tire early on and came back from 5 laps down to finish 2nd one lap down. I remember taking a picture of my niece sitting in Friday Hassler's car....our Chattanooga driver. 3. Thirteen months later, a jury acquitted him of owning an apparatus for the harvesting of illegal whiskey. 4. rob posted: 08.03.2014 - 10:07 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Tom Pistone leads the final laps of his GN career in the Turkey Minton Chevy. Other notes: - This was the first 500 lap race on this track. - There were 44 entries for 30 starting spots. - Bill Seifert drove a 1965 Ford. - Richard Petty had ignition problems early on and lost 5 laps in the pits for repairs. - Lee Roy Yarbrough dropped out of the race from the lead. - Neil Castles crashed into the wall on lap 252, which caused a caution. - David Pearson took the lead from Bobby Allison on lap 374, but blew his engine on lap 451 and did not finish. - James Hylton did not run this race due to being injured in a crash at Rockingham two weeks prior. It sounds like Bobby Allison got pretty lucky with all the other contenders having engine woes. 7. I misread the article. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
