The Wood Brothers were a marquee team here when they hired Gurney to pilot a second entry.) 10. This was his third-to-last start in the series. 11. Dorsal Fin posted: 12.13.2018 - 1:22 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Mario Andretti finishes 27th for the 3rd straight time. 12. Then, as he was getting out of the vehicle, his car was hit from behind by the #18 car of Harold Hardesty, which had slid in the oil. Grant was fortunate to not be seriously injured. Richard Petty blew up, spun in his own oil, and hit the wall on lap 165. At one point, Dan Gurney ran over debris and blew a tire while leading Jones by 52 seconds. He had to make an unscheduled pit stop, but he rebounded to win the race anyway. Buddy Baker drove a car prepared by Cotton Owens in a one-race deal because Ray Fox didn't want to come out to Riverside. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
