Last race here until it came to the Busch Series 18 years later,
attracting over 40 cars 5 years in a row (probably due to its purses,
third only to those offered by Daytona and Charlotte)

The third and final Cup race at Oxford sees Richard Petty score his only
victory at this track. Bobby Allison won the prior two races here but
finished three laps down in this one, claiming a top-5 but not leading a
lap.

This was the last race in the New England region until 1993
