I found 2 seat cushions (Charlotte Motor Speedway...World 600 and National 500)when I bought a house in '93. I finally got around to researching 1 of them. The person had wrote in black marker...Oct 20th and 5 drivers and their car numbers, as well as putting an asterisks by National 500. Turns out it was the 1968 National 500 in which Glotzback started 1st and won. The names were the starting five. Thanks for the help, Roger 2. hyltonfan08 posted: 01.23.2009 - 6:32 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Paul Goldsmith's sponsor was Valleydale Meats. 3. Note: Carl Parsons (a mechanic of the team from Detroit, MI) drove the car #11 in qualifying but A.J. Foyt drove the car in the race. Note: Eddie Yarboro #50 initially qualified in 35th position was withdraw and all drivers behind him in qualifying lineup won a line position. Example Neil Castles #06 (initially 37th) started 35th; Wendell Scott #34 (initially 39th) started 37th; and so on. 9. This race took place the same weekend that the Ford vs. Dodge rivalry hit the big screen with the release of the movie "Bullitt" with its famous car chase pitting a Dodge Charger against the titular hero's played by Steve McQueen in a Ford Mustang. 10. Robbins' first superspeedway Cup appearance saw him come home a respectable 12th. While he was well short of victory lane Robbins would find himself #1 not long after this race as his record single "I Walk Alone" was climbing up the country charts at the time and would soon top them three weeks later. 11. nascarvd/racing-reference.info posted: 04.28.2020 - 11:21 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) Note: A.J. For context this race was run two weeks before the 1968 U.S. Presidential Election with the Wallace here being third party candidate George Wallace, then the well-known former governor of Alabama , who was running for the American Independent Party against Republican Richard Nixon and Democrat Hubert Humphrey. Nixon won the election with an edge in the popular vote and a large advantage in the Electoral College but Wallace would win several Southern states; becoming the last third party candidate to date to win electoral votes. 13. This was Supertex's fourth and final Cup start of the year and the only one where his car finished, he and Little Bud Moore brought the #11 home tenth. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
