His car came back on the inside of the racetrack but while riding the guardrail Pearson hit a flag pole, which served as a landmark for the speedway. 4. I would be inclined to say that he drove his usual car here instead of the #3, but I'm far from well-versed in the occasional seat-swappings in this era of the sport. There's also a picture of the cars sitting in the garage before the race and a badly wrecked #8 car is among them. Just speculating here, but could it be that Ed Negre wrecked in practice or qualifying and then hopped into the #0 to start and park?
