Sebastien posted: 09.25.2017 - 8:32 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) To complete post #3, Richard Petty relieved David Pearson (healing from a flu and suffering from heat) on the 100th lap, got the lead back on lap 183 but Pearson got the car back on lap 255 (Petty planned to last longer in the #17 but because of the heat he didn't). Bobby Allison relieved #71 Bobby Isaac. #27 Donnie Allison was cancelled his 9th spot on the grid after changing brand of tires (goodyear on for the race) and started the race dead last. Cale Yarborough relieved him at some point during the race and crossed the finish line in that #27 car. The crash that took out strong contenders like #22 Bobby Allison or #6 Buddy Baker was triggered by Cale Yarborough in the #21, because of a bump on #25 Jabe Thomas in turn 1. 7.
